Salary: £53,889-£60,612

Adecco Public Sector is proud to be working with Mid Sussex District Council as they seek to recruit a number of permanent roles into their People & Commercial Services Directorate.

About the Role:

Mid Sussex District Council is seeking a strategic and experienced Environmental Services Manager to lead the delivery and development of key frontline contracts across waste, street cleansing, and green spaces.

This is a high-impact role for a confident leader with a strong background in contract management, procurement, and service improvement. You'll manage a team of Contract Officers and work closely with suppliers, community groups, and internal stakeholders to ensure services are delivered to a high standard, contractual obligations are met, and performance is continuously monitored and enhanced.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Leading contract management and procurement for major environmental services
Managing supplier relationships and overseeing performance and risk
Driving service improvements and identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency
Supporting the delivery of the Council's Social Value Charter and Sustainable Economy Strategy
Preparing and managing budgets, bids, and service plans

Preparing reports, attending Council meetings, and representing the Council in regional forums and stakeholder engagements

About You:

The ideal candidate will bring:

Relevant qualifications and experience in contract delivery and management
Strong leadership and team development skills
Proven experience in procurement, supplier performance monitoring, and budget control
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
Political awareness and confidence in handling sensitive conversations
A strategic mindset with the ability to deliver policy and service improvements
