Title: Recycling Technician
Type: Contract
Contract Length - 2 years with chance of perm offer
Rate: £21.16 per hour PAYE

*FOR THIS ROLE, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN SC CLEARANCE*

Nature of the Work (Day-to-Day)
- Recycling and refurbishment of components for 3 enrichment plants
- Main focus on vacuum pumps:
o ~110 pumps per year
o Pumps weigh up to 0.5 tonnes
- Work involves:
o Stripping pumps into components
o Decontamination (non-craft staff carry this out)
o Rebuild and refurbishment
- Use of bespoke equipment due to pump size and uranium degradation of components

- Work carried out in:
o Vent rooms
o Decontamination baths
o Hazmat suits when required
- Very manual and physical role
- Candidates need to be reasonably fit
- Full training provided
- Interview process will include a clear explanation of the working environment
Technical & Industry Background
- Measuring and test equipment is largely bespoke
- Nuclear background not essential
- Transferable industries may include:
o Heavy engineering
o Mechanical maintenance
o Chemical processing
o Oil & gas
o Utilities
- Recent graduates may be considered if technically strong and practical

Qualifications & Certifications
- FLT, crane, and slinging:
o Desirable but not essential
o Can be trained after hire
- Existing site clearance is advantageous
- Candidates from Guard Force or Incident Response teams may be suitable if capable of the physical work
