A vacancy currently exists for a Site Operations Chemist to work within the company’s successful waste treatment division at a hazardous waste treatment and transfer facility in West Yorkshire. The main purpose of the role is to carry out chemical and physical testing of waste received for treatment or transfer and to complete and maintain appropriate waste consignment documentation and laboratory records.
Main Duties:
Inspect and test wastes prior to and on receipt to confirm suitability for site acceptance and to identify/confirm appropriate safe handling and processing methods. Undertake lab-based waste trials using instrumental and wet chemistry methods. Inspect, verify and complete waste consignment note documents. Undertake waste analyses using a range of methods. Maintain and undertake appropriate quality control methods to ensure accuracy of waste assessments. Maintain accurate waste and other records.
Candidate Requirements:
Degree in Chemistry or related subject. Experience of waste, wastewater or water analyses using spectrophotometric methods. Knowledge of hazardous waste classification and consignment note systems (desirable). Knowledge of MS Office.
