Description
Our client is seeking a Sustainable Transport Officer to join their Highways & Transport division on a contract basis. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement schemes and campaigns that promote sustainable transport modes.Engage with local businesses and community groups to support sustainable transport initiatives.
Encourage and support schools to develop and implement School Travel Plans.
Oversee cyclist training schemes, including the recruitment and development of cycle trainers.
Identify and address local Road Safety issues and manage the School Crossing Patrol Service.
Promote alternative vehicle use, manage car clubs and electric vehicle charging points.
Work closely with Transport for London and other partners to improve local transportation services.
Support policy development related to Sustainable Transport and respond to relevant consultations. Job Requirements: Experience in promoting and delivering sustainable transport initiatives.
Experience in transport planning, active travel, and working within the transportation sector.
Ability to manage small teams and supervise junior staff, including career grade officers and crossing patrol officers.
Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
Excellent communication skills, capable of liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
Good knowledge of sustainable transport policies and best practices.
Proficiency in using ICT, particularly MS Office, internet, and email systems.
